This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to operate, inspect and monitor a power generation facility's site services water system, excluding fixed fire water services.
Water systems are an essential component in power generating facility operations. The smooth operation of a power generating facility's water system must be maintained and optimised to ensure safety and the mitigation of potential impacts from dangerous situations.
Competency in this unit requires the ability to plan work, operate water system plant, test water system plant operation, respond to abnormal water system plant operation, monitor and inspect water system plant and the completion of all documentation. Individuals will, in general, work under supervision, in a power generation facility as an operator.
Power generation plant operators are typically trained and authorised to isolate, prepare plant and issue permits to work.
